The best way to repair a cracked or split fingernail is to cover the affected area with superglue. Then, cover the glue with a piece of thin silky fabric. Once the glue has penetrated the fabric, put down another layer of glue on top of the fabric. Then let it dry. Using a nail file, file off any excess fabric that extends beyond the edge of your fingernail. The fabric adds extra strength to the repair. Superglue alone will not last very long without breaking.
