The Yulong Guo Koa Concert Classical Guitar with Cedar Double-Top is a truly world-class concert guitar by acclaimed Chinese luthier, Yulong Guo. This instrument comes with a Cedar top and is made from the highest quality, master grade woods. The back and sides are Koa, with decorative maple inlay. The soundboard has a double-top design, similar to the one invented by Matthias Dammann in Germany in the late 1980s. It consists of two super thin layers of wood, with a Nomex honeycombed structure between the tops. The fretboard is slightly elevated for easier access above the 12th fret. It has a Spanish cedar neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, a decorative port hole in the side facing the player, an ebony armrest. There is a decorative maple inlay in the back. The scale length is 650mm. The width at the nut is 52mm, and the width at the 12th fret is 62mm. The tuners are by Der Jung.

This is a stunningly beautiful guitar, with huge volume, and the quality of the sound is breathtaking. I have had my Concert cedar/koa guitar for two weeks and it is a great instrument. The highs, especially above the 9th fret are crystal clear and the bases are sonorous. There is no tubbness even with the 6th string tuned down. This is not my only guitar. I have two Ramirez including a 1a, but this has become my favorite. Oh, BTW, the beautiful hardshell case is awesome!

I’ve been playing my new Yulong Guo Concert Koa/Cedar guitar for several hours each day since it arrived. It’s hard to put it down. My older guitar is a traditionally-built Hauser-style with a spruce top, and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. It has a good bass response, but I had not noticed how hard I had to work to get a decent, balanced tone out of the trebles. On this new guitar, the trebles and mids are so sweet and so well-matched to the strong bass. It is easy to get variations in tone color, wide dynamic range, and vibrato. Overall, I am hearing each and every note sing out more clearly, and the sustain is to die for. The sound port creates an amazing surround-sound-like effect. What more could I ask for: great looks, tone, and playability.
